Old age, mortality and the meaning of life
RADILOVÁ, Antonie
The bachelor thesis focuses on old age as a period of balancing lived life and accepting one's own finiteness. The themes of old age, mortality and the meaning of life are put in the theoretical and research part of the thesis into mutual context. Using in-depth interviews with individuals living in a selected home for the elderly, the practical part focuses on mapping their assessment of life and finding meaning in it, accepting life in a home for the elderly and relating these seniors to their own mortality. The selected seniors evaluate their lives positively and perceive them as meaningful. The main sources of meaning in life is primarily relationships and a particular society. The home for the elderly is perceived by the respondents as a place to live and some sort of liberation. Going to this institution is mostly taken positively and the seniors are satisfied there. The selected seniors do not think about death and are reconciled to their mortality. They see death as the logical end of life, of which they have no fear. However, there is a fear of dying and a wish not to be a burden to others.

Thinking in unconcealedness
Zajíc, Tomáš ; Hogenová, Anna (advisor) ; Rybák, David (referee)
The aim of this thesis is the study of the topic of thinking in the works of Martin Heidegger as one of the possibilities which is one's innermost capability and which is not a mere tool for discovering, but belongs to the way of one's being. Thinking is being mindful of that which is worth remembering and which in itself opens the possibility of encountering the world and one's own self in its original clarity. Through thinking of closeness, the thesis gets to Heidegger's concept of the fourfold and enowning of the world into things and continues with the topic of mortality of one's own Dasein. The thesis then thematises Heidegger's thinking of Greek ALETHEIA as a clearing for showing of a being, which has in its own self remained unthought in the history of philosophy and in which Heidegger sees the role of thinking in the times of completion of the metaphysics. In the interpretation of language, it reveals how language is given to humans, or rather humans are given to language and how language is the house of being and how it essentially constitutes thinking. Alongside language, poesy is examined, in which language speaks as language and where language is shown as the harmony of silence. Poesy is then approached as acquiring measure and Heidegger's interpretation of the nature of human's housing...

In this regard, the study sought to address specific objectives which include: contribution of NHIS on maternal health delivery and contribution of NHIS on maternal mortality rate. Moreover, the general maternal health care delivery in Ghana was also assessed. The study made use of questionnaire and interview guide approach to obtain answers to achieve above objectives. Prenatal indicators analyzed include care by professionals and vaccination (TT). There was an increase in the number of maternal healthcare professionals who were competent to handle maternal related issues. NHIS policy implementation led to drastic decline in maternal mortality rate. Health 2212infrastructure improved as new ones were built while old ones were renovated. Findings also indicate that government of Ghana has put in place intervention programmes to enhance general maternal health care delivery. Studnička, Martin ; Pavlíková, Eva (advisor) ; Ovečka, Libor (referee)
Ethical dilema and economic aspects of overtreating terminally ill patients in current society Abstract The aim of this thesis is to outline problems of over-treating terminally ill patients in the final stage of their illness in current society in context of ethics, bioethics and economic factors. Based on medical, ethical and economic texts, we will try to analyse if current ethical principles, law standards and economic level of development of current society ensures enough such a medical care to each and every individual in line with human dignity. Do the health workers who treat terminally ill patients realize their power as well as powerlessness when it comes to fighting life and death? What makes them to start and continue such therapy that does not bring any benefit to the patient and what is the purpose to this? Is it possible to die with dignity? Can death be more meaningful in comparison to life? The first part of this thesis will focus on the theoretical point of view of these problems. The second part of this thesis will try to analyse the problems with the help of sociological research among the general population, but as well as among health workers who stand in front of ethical and economical challenges in each and every day. Such challenges can lead to overtreatment. Is there awareness...
Death and finitude: Jaspers vs. Sartre
Chvojková, Kristýna ; Němec, Václav (advisor) ; Kouba, Pavel (referee)
The bachelor's thesis "Death and Finitude: Jaspers vs. Sartre" compares the accounts of human death and, above all, mortality in the work of J.-P. Sartre and K. Jaspers. Although both authors are often seen as existentialist philosophers, their attitudes toward death are very different. According to Sartre, man cannot relate to their own death because death does not belong in any way into the structure of being-for- itself, which means that it cannot have any sense for them. On the contrary, according to Jaspers, a human being can relate to their death through anxiety in boundary situations. Their facing the situation without trying to cloud their mortality results into their capability to differentiate between the things that are not valuable with regard to temporal finitude of human life, and existential moments above time that have a value that does not disappear with death. As a result of becoming conscious of their mortality, man actualizes their existence, becoming thus more "themselves". Contrarily, Sartre's account leads to the conclusion that man cannot be aware of their mortality - nevertheless, they are afraid of being deprived of their freedom after their death by the others. Unlike Sartre, Jaspers sees the self as a multidimensional entity, which makes it possible to say that death has a...
The question of mandatory vaccination and vaccination coverage
Borovcová, Anna ; Bezchlebová, Daniela (advisor) ; Fabiánová, Jana (referee)
The main concern of this thesis is the issue of mandatory vaccination and vaccination coverage in the Czech Republic. Therefore it focuses on all vaccines against infectious diseases which are now mandatory for all of the children: measles, mumps, rubella, diphtheria, tetanus, viral hepatitis B, poliomyelitis and diseases caused by Haemophilus influenzae type b. The goal of this thesis is to illustrate the importance and benefits of vaccination on incidence and mortality of these diseases. Another part of this thesis is also description of methodology which is used to gather data about vaccination coverage and what the results are. In this part Liberec Region is used as an example. As a result of the unsuitable methodology which is used for data gathering in the Czech Republic, it was not possible to say whether the vaccination coverage de-creases in time. The thesis itself provides an information overview about vaccination which is important from demographic point of view and it also might be an impulse for changing current methodology of data collection.
